You are here because you are bad at relationships and you didn’t say the word “spreadsheet” once in your interview with the producers. They gave you a sudoku puzzle and you asked them what it was; this was the right answer. You are here to party, have fun, get laid, go on awesome dates, and maybe, just maybe, find true love. 

At least, that was the plan. But something seems a little bit off about this beautiful tropical island. Some of the cast think it’s cursed. Others think it’s the producers playing pranks on you to cause more drama. Whatever it is, it’s becoming increasingly disconcerting as time goes on.

You want to find your true love. But when you find them, will you be the partner of their dreams… or their worst nightmares?

The BAR (Bad At Relationships) is a reality dating show where cast members try to find their true love (as determined by the producers’ elaborate matchmaking system) among the other cast members; if everyone finds their true love, then everyone wins a cash prize. 

This season is set on a tropical island with one small flaw; it’s cursed, and the curse is slowly infecting the cast members. Normally, if you find your true love, you will try to make their life the best possible. But if you’re cursed, you will seek out your true love just as passionately - for the purpose of ruining their life, for you can ruin your true love’s life more tragically than you can ruin anyone else’s. In this fast-paced somewhat farcical speed-dating LARP, the soulless monster is everyone and no one. 

Content warnings include in-game discussions and roleplay of sex and alcohol consumption and supernatural horror. Most characters are bisexual; players unwilling to play a bisexual character should not play this game. The mechanic for sex in this game is playing patty-cakes with your partner(s).

This LARP is inspired by the queer season of the reality show Are You the One. 

Running Requirements

At least one private room that can be closed off with a door and at least one large open area where everyone can party. A swimming pool is ideal but not required. 

Various small items such as poker chips and chess pieces, all of which can be substituted for something else if needed.  Envelopes and printed instructions.
